Riverkids began informally in 2002 as an outreach to children in the Bassac slums in Phnom Penh. We were officially registered as a local non-governmental organization in Cambodia in 2007 and since then, we have been working hand-in-hand with Cambodian authorities and other NGOs to prevent child trafficking in Cambodia. Currently, Riverkids Foundation supports around 400 Cambodian and Vietnamese children living in Phnom Penh who have been identified as being highly at risk for trafficking and exploitation in urban slums through direct outreach and community-based programmers in education, health, income generation, and social work.

The vision of the Riverkids Foundation is to enable all vulnerable children, young adults and vulnerable women to have equal opportunities to progress and develop academically, socially and economically in a safe and supportive environment.
