Laboratory Supervisor

- Provides laboratory training to all locally hired laboratory technicians.
- Directly supervises laboratory bench work in direct support of NAMRU2 Medical Research and clinical projects;
- Routinely executes sophisticated laboratory assays in Molecular Biology (serology, polymerase chain reaction, enzyme immunoassays), Immunology, Parasitology, Bacteriology, and Virology to detect pathogens in support of NAMRU2/biomedical research protocols; makes and/or assembles all reagents, media, forms and equipment necessary to complete tasks;
- Stores reagents and equipment under proper storage conditions; monitors the inventory in accordance with current systems;
- Checks and annotates the expiration dates of supplies and reagents; submits supply requests; cleans and stores properly all reagents and equipment;
- Handles and disposes all material according to NIPH/Laboratory safety instruction;
- Oversees laboratory safety and works with Safety Officers to ensure instructions are followed;
- Enters all lab procedures, notes, data and results in a well-organized, neat and chronological lab notebook/computer for easy retrieval; and work is inspected by senior staff.
